BNS Wax Recommendations

Minimize
As racers, coaches and service technicians, we've worked at every level of the sport from local high school races to Olympics and World Championships.  When we launched BNS, one of the first things we did was start publishing wax reports that included multiple brands.  We figured that the while typical wax reports from each company were useful, most racers want to know what wax is fastest - period - not just what is running best from each brand.

These wax reports are our best effort at providing objective, useful information for racers. We import several wax brands including Holmenkol, SkiGo, Guru, Magnar and Gallium, and we sell Swix, Toko, Rex, Rode and Start, among others. We try our best to test as many waxes as possible, but it is just not possible to test everything, and no test is infallible.  With this in mind, we seek full transparency in every one of our recommendations by discussing how we test, what the results are and what we recommend, so you can trust our work and decide for yourself how valuable our recommendations are.  We hope that these reports will be useful to you and help you make fast skis!

Forecast Based Recommendation

Recommendation

We recommend the following:

Base Layer: Ski*Go LF Graphite

Race Paraffin: Ski*Go Green/Orange HF  mix

Fluoro Powder: Ski*Go C44

Top Coat: C44 or C22 liquid.

Structure: Finite V10+AF10

Discussion –  Expect transformed, old dirty snow. Overnight temps should keep things relatively dry until part way through the race. Ski*Go yellow HF might also be the solution if things are really wet and saturated – but with the dirty snow present, a slightly harder wax will probably be better. More structure is probably better, even with the presence of dirt – but fluoro will make a big difference in this race. Things should start out hard and fast, without too much breakup in the snow occurring later in the day.

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
