BNS Wax Recommendation

2017 Teton Ridge Classic

(Mass Start Classic)

Saturday January 14, 2017

Teton Ranch located 10 miles North-East of Driggs, ID

Event Information-

The event offers a 26km and 13km division along with a tour division and a shorter 3km and 6km course on some of the best classic skiing terrain in the Western US.

§  Weather- NOAA Forecast
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 22.  Wind Chill values as low as -12.

§  Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 0.  Wind chill values as low as -16.

§  Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 25.  Wind chill values as low as -16.

§  Recommendation: This is a forecast based recommendation; I will try and make updates again Friday afternoon/evening.

Base Layer: Ski*Go LF Graphite!

Race Paraffin: Ski*Go HF Green mixed 50:50 with Ski*Go C380 cold powder.  Holmenkol Racing Mix Blue mixed with C380 would also be a great option.

Fluoro Powder: Ski*Go 110 Powder is recommended – however Ski*Go C105 has run great for me at this venue in similar conditions & temperatures…
Topcoat: Ski*Go C110 fluid

Structure: Testing Recommended: A fine linear structure followed by a blank, brushed out with horsehair brush should free up the ski in these conditions.

Kick: This is a great course with an even mix of climbs and descents so test kickers but try something with proven durability given the descents and snow type. Base: Ski*Go Green XC ironed.  Hard Wax: Recommend 4-5 thin layers corked smooth. Options to try: Guru Green, Rode Green Special, Start Terva Green, Ski*Go Green XC

Test Discussion- N/A

CONCLUSIONARY NOTES –  Should be great classic skiing conditions this year!

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
